Release of children

RELEASE OF CHILDREN

Our Center has a policy concerning the release of children to Parents or people authorized by the Parents to be responsible for the child. Please discuss with us your plans for your child’s departure from the center. We encourage all Parents to make the appropriate documentation on the application to avoid any unforeseen problems with the drop off or departure of students.

Each child may be released only to the child’s custodial Parents or person authorized by the custodial Parents, to take the child from the center and to assume responsibility for the child in an emergency if the custodial Parents can not be reached.

The centre maintains a provision that a child shall not be visited by or released to a non-custodial Parent unless the custodial Parent specifically authorizes the center to allow such visits or release in writing. This written authorization, including name, address and phone number shall be maintained in the file.

If a non-custodial Parent has been denied access to a child by a court order, the center shall secure documentation to that effect and maintain a copy on file.

The procedure to be followed by staff members if the Parents or person authorized by the Parents as specified in above fails to pick up a child at the time the centers daily closing is as follows:

  1. The child is supervised at all times.
  2. Staff members attempt to contact the Parents or person authorized by the Parents.
  3. Emergency contact person will be contacted to pick up child.
  4. An hour or more after closing time and provided that other authorized person has failed to pick up the child and the staff member can not continue to supervise the child at the center, the Parent will be surcharged with an amount of GH¢2.00 for extra duty to the staff of the center in caring for the child until the Parents or person authorized by the child’s Parents is able to pick up the child unless otherwise agreed between the parent and the chief administrator.
  5. The Chief Administrator will discuss with Parents if continued problems arise. It is the policy of the center if it is determined that the Parent or person authorized by the Parent appear to be physically and or emotionally impaired to the extent that in the judgment of the Chief Administrator or staff member the child would be placed at risk of harm if released to such an individual. The procedures shall require that:
    • The child not be released to such an impaired individual
    • Staff members attempt to contact the Childs other Parent or alternate person authorized by the Parent.
    • The department of social welfare shall be notified.

Our Curriculum
Integrated

Young children learn best when they can make connections across many disciplines. All our subjects are integrated throughout our curriculum.

Focus on Literacy

Children with large vocabularies who exhibit phonological and phonemic awareness skills are more likely to become literate. We develop these skills and apply them to phonics, concepts of print, comprehension and writing, laying the foundation for long-term achievement.

Focused on Math

We integrate and emphasize math skills and concepts. Direct instruction, center exploration, games and activities provide a practical approach to applied math that children encounter in everyday life.

Systematic, Spiraled & Scaffolded trips

Children retain new information when it connects with previous knowledge and experiences. New information is presented in a logical and linear fashion. Thereafter, children move from simple concepts to advanced understanding through a continuum where skills and concepts are reviewed, revisited and expanded.

Standards-Based place

Our curriculum establishes clear and developmentally appropriate goals for children’s learning based on our local and international programs.
